Review:
Have you ever have a strong regret that keep you from moving forward, and you keep wishing that you can go back and change it? Well, that’s the premise of this series. If you have the chance to go back and change what you have deeply regretted, will you able to do it? Will you able to break out of your shell? Would you even make a difference? For Ken, it proved more difficult than he thought, even though I have been given chance and chance again.
The series is interesting because it’s something we all wish we could do, be given a chance to “fix” what we have done wrong. With each new episode our protagonist is given a chance to change his fate. For me, the anticipation starts to climb from episode 1 to 5 when things were light and sometimes humorous. As soon as the series starts to get seriously, it begins to lose steam. The series tries too hard to hint at the girl’s point of view that it’s sometimes hard to understand her emotion at all. Maybe that’s was intentional. Maybe the writer/director want it to be cryptic until the very end. However, this method make the viewers feel a little frustrated at times. It’s also the reason why I didn’t give it a higher rating even though I did enjoy this series.
Some people complained about the ending (don’t they always?), which I somewhat agreed. Up to the first half of the final episode, things were still uncleared and people don’t know which way the characters are going to go … left or right? Which is kind of irritating since it all the previous episodes are suppose to lead to this climax? But, where’s the climax? Did he succeed? Did he failed? What about the girl? Two third of the final episode is over we’re still in the dark. Is it enough time for the resolution? I kept thinking as the timer slowly count down. However I do agree with the final ending (*hint: continue watching after the credits) … so what is it? … I have no idea … the writer/director intentionally leave it up to the viewers to decide on their own. The series is supposed to be cryptic … so why does the ending has to be any different? If they do make PD2, it’s probably be from the girl’s point of view since that’s the only logical continuation of this series.
